Style Research 2 - NEW IDEAS

Another art style I've been noticing a lot recently is low poly. I've fallen in love with the 2D low poly art style. I had a brainwave and realised it could look really nice as an environment project. I researched around looking for environment inspiration and found a lot of references with regard to 3D low poly but not really 2D.

Previously I'd experimented with low poly with regard to 3D work. In second year I worked on a 3D low poly character in 3D Production Design.

I really liked this piece however it doesn't really help me much with regard to this project. Below are some of the research images I really like.

With regard to my visual research for the environment art i've been looking at some really cool 3D work but not so much 2D. The main aspects of the art style I've found are shading and colour choice. These are vey important with regard to giving the environment depth. I'm worried i'll be struggling with the coding so I'll be limited to making the environment in Illustrator.

Flash will struggle slightly with JPEG images so improving my Illustrator knowledge is key. The low poly style I'm thinking would suit illustrator. Using the pen tool makes creating poly shapes easy and the colour picker allows for really nice colour schemes.

These could work as really nice underlays for the platforms i plan to create. I'm going to make some sketches to illustrate the type of layouts and camera views I want to use.

Soooo coooooool
