Initial Sketchbook Work

These are some of the initial pages from my sketchbook of work.



 


These focus mainly on the Low poly style I was thinking of as I feel I was neglecting the ideas generation for this. From doing some sketching, I think this could work really nicely with the aesthetic I want to create. The style matches the surreal style I wish to create.

I also did some ideas for the original style aesthetic I had in mind. 


This sketch shows my ideas for the mechanic and interactivity within the environment. I wanted to create a sun where-by the eyes would follow the character as it's traverses the map. 

This shows some environment ideas. I had a strange idea that was based around a character followed by the fairy of light who would help you walk through a dark and creepy environment. I liked this idea but I'm worried about setting the environment properly.

My original idea of the daytime changing to night time is shown above. The idea would be that the sun would change to a moon. They eyes would follow you as you jumped down into darkness. 

The notes explain the idea of the environment getting darker and things becoming rotten looking. This could take up too much time however I really like it as a visually pleasing aesthetic.




This was my initial sketch for the main character in my first style aesthetic. The idea was that he is a clown type dream catcher who represents the nightmare side of the environment. He will be followed by the fairy character below.

This was my idea for the fairy character. She will glow and cast light on the environment. Her want will allow her to do spells that will interact with the environment. This could be quite difficult and extremely time consuming if I were to do it in this style. 

I also don't have the illustrator skills to create the detail I wish for the environment and character.



Some quick cloud sketches. The idea was that the rain drops would fall from the cloud as if coming from a coin slot.
